Continents Fact Files Printable – Geography Printables

continent-fact-files-and-flash-cards-from-homeschool-creations_edited-1

This year Kaleb and I have been wandering around the world via books, Little Passports, and various other things we come across in our travels. We have a slew of resources and to go along with a few of our books, I put together some printables where we could track important information related to the countries.

continent-fact-files-printables-from-homeschool-creations_edited-1

There are several pages for each continent: a blank continent image, one showing countries/territories within the continent, and another labeling each of the countries/territories within the continent (Antarctica only has one page).

All continent fact pages were designed using the traditional Montessori colors: Africa (green), Antarctica (white), Asia (yellow), Australia (brown), Europe (red), North America (orange),  and South America (pink).

Each page has room to record the following information and also shows where that continent is in comparison to other continents:

  • Size/Area
  • Number of Countries
  • Population
  • Highest Point
  • Place with Most People
  • Climate
  • Top Landmarks
  • Natural Resources
  • Nearby Oceans

We’ve been using the below books to help us fill in the information blanks on each continent fact file:

The set also has seven half-sheet printables we recommend printing off onto cardstock and laminating. Use them as larger flash cards to show the various country/territory divisions on the continents. We have a copy in each of our continent boxes and will put them on the wall above our map when we are studying the continent.

We also highly recommend taking part in a Little Passports subscription! Not sure which adventure to choose for your explorer? Check out these Little Passports blog posts and learn more about their four subscription options:

November 2016 Planning Pages – Free Printable

November personal planner pages from Homeschool Creations

Are you ready for the holidays – somehow it’s hard to believe there are only a few days left in October, which means Thanksgiving will be here for us in a month and then two months until Christmas! This year has flown by!

To help keep me sane, I try to have a plan in place using my yearly planner – meal ideas, running lists of what needs to be remembered and done…you get the idea. To help you get your days and weeks a little more organized along with me, I have November 2016 Personal Planner Pages for you all to use, and I truly hope they are a help to you in the upcoming weeks.

A Peek Inside My Planner

If you’d like to take a look at how I’ve set up my yearly planner, I’ve explained it more in this post here, as well as given links to my favorite binder and colorful tabs (because pretty makes life fun too, right?).

Yearly Planner example from Homeschool Creations-5

This year I’ve done a little something different and pulled my planner out of the binder and had it spiral bound at Staples. Loving it so far!!

Don’t Miss The Daily To-Do List

Daily to do list free printable

My Daily To-Do List is pretty basic, but hopefully it will work for you too. There is an area to make a list of things to accomplish, household goals, appointment, meals for the day, and even a space to record exercise and water intake. Each page in the document is identical so you can print them off, cut the page in half, and have two lists. If you print them front to back, you’ll have four to-do lists and save a little paper.

Hope you all have a wonderful month!! I’d love to hear your plans!

Periodic Table of Elements Cards – Free Printable

periodic-table-of-elements-notecards-62-free-page-printable-from-homeschoolcreations

Learning the periodic table with your kids – or at least having them work on it? Last year while we were working on Christian Kids Explore Chemistry I put together some hands-on cards for our son to use while researching different elements. Today I am excited to offer this and they are FREE especially for my email subscribers – yay!!

Are you already an email subscriber? Please go to this private page and enter the NEW password. You can find the password in your most current email at the very bottom. Become a subscriber HERE and receive instant access.

The Periodic Table of Elements Cards  will help your child learn and record more about each of the elements on the periodic table – the atomic number, atomic weight, symbol, state at room temperature, melting point, boiling point, characteristics, and interesting facts. The set includes:

  • a full page of periodic table of the elements, color-coded by subcategories
  • 60 pages full color-coded element cards based on subcategories
  • blank element cards

Using the Periodic Table of Elements Cards

One app we have found very helpful in learning about the various elements is Popar’s Interactive Periodic Table of Elements. It is a FREE app in the iTunes store (search Popar Periodic) and it allows you to view information about various elements, combine elements, and discover different compounds. All you have to do is click on one of the elements and it will share all of the information needed to fill out each of the cards. Another great resource is this site which allows you to click on various elements and find out different information as well.

The master color code for the periodic table of elements is the first page in the printable. Print off the cards you would like (they print front/back nicely so you don’t have to worry about reloading your printer all the time).

element-card-example

The front of each card lists an element symbol and provides room on the card for kids to write the element name, the atomic number, and the atomic weight.

(my son’s lovely handwriting)

On the back, kids can list the following information:

  • state at room temperature
  • melting point
  • boiling point
  • special characteristics and notes
  • interesting facts

The cards print off four to a sheet and after cutting around the borders, I used our paper cutter to get a nice straight line. :) We recommend printing on cardstock for added durability. Punch the corner of each card and put them on a jump ring to keep handy.

Brown Bear, Brown Bear Vocabulary Cards – Free Printables

Brown Bear Brown Bear Vocabulary Cards

Brown Bear, Brown Bear by Bill Martin Jr. is such a classic children’s book, and with my nieces and nephew working on books together with their mom, I put together these Brown Bear, Brown Bear Word Cards for them to use in the upcoming weeks – and thought you all might enjoy them as well!

Brown Bear Brown Bear vocabulary word cards for Read Build Write Mats from Homeschool Creations

There are three different pages of word cards – a total of 35 vocabulary words in all for Brown Bear, Brown Bear. Words include: bear, sheep, bird, dog, frog, horse, duck, fish, cat, teacher, students, as well as color cards.

You will need TWO downloads (both free!!) to use the word cards – both the word cards and the Read! Build! Write! Mats.

All downloads are in the green columns on the Read! Build! Write! page

The Read! Build! Write! Vocabulary Mats

Not familiar with the Read! Build! Write! mats? Basically, they are a fun way to work with your child on word identification and spelling.

Read, Build, Write collage

Here’s how the mats are used:

Read: Place one of the vocabulary cards in the top box and read the word together.

Build: Use letter tiles or magnets to build the word in the second box.

Write: Finally, practice writing the word in the bottom box.

Print the mats onto cardstock and then laminate them so that you can use Vis-à-vis markers or dry erase markers on the mats.

Read, Build, Write collage 2

Check out the Read! Build! Write! page to find additional themed vocabulary cards to go along with all of the Early Learning Printable Packs that I’ve put together so far.

All downloads are in the green columns on the Read! Build! Write! page

Hope these help you all out! Feel free to ‘pin’ the printables and share them with others! If there are some other vocabulary cards that you would like to see me put together, leave a comment and let me know!

Student Planner PDF Download – TWO Choices! (and a SALE!)

Two choices of student planners from Homeschool Creations - help get your student on track_edited-4

Last fall I shared the student planner I had created for our daughters and after a full year of using it, both she and her sister decided they love it! It has been a perfect fit for our family, but several of you emailed and asked if there was another graphic option available – because a few sons felt it wasn’t quite for them.

After some digging, we found one that our family loved, so another graphic choice for the Student Planner is now available – yay! To celebrate, be sure to read through to the bottom of the post because we are having a sale for one week only!

About the Student Planners

FullSizeRender 64

The planners are undated, so you can save the file to your computer and reprint them year after year. At the back of the planner you’ll even find a link to a ‘secret’ page where you can download bonus pages to go along with the planner (and if you have a suggestion, feel free to email me and ask!).

Want a peek inside? I promise it’s super simple – because we found we really didn’t need so much extra stuff, full of color, and ready to download and print. This is a look at our planner from last year (the circle graphic version).

Email subscribers can watch the video here.

A quick note: I figured out that our printer will print BORDERLESS. It was one of the paper choices in settings. In the video you’ll see some of the pages that we experiments with (ones that were or weren’t printed all the way to the edge). Our front and back covers were printed onto cardstock and then laminated for extra durability. We use a heavy weight paper (24 lb.) to print the planner and make the pages a little thicker.

The Student Planner contains:

Weekly Student Planner layout from Homeschool Creations

  • 8 1/2” x 11” undated pages – use it year after year!
  • year at a glance dates
  • student information and schedule page
  • 12 blank monthly planning pages
  • weekly planning pages for 8 subjects
  • planning for every day of the week (smaller spaces for Saturday/Sunday)
  • goals, notes, and ‘what I learned’ section
  • tracking for books read
  • 2 layouts: August through July or January through December
  • link to a password protected page where you can download updated calendars and bonus pages for the planners
