My Goal for the month of August…

School officially started for us yesterday. It happened without the usual fanfare and instead included a last minute trip to the doctor for a sick kiddo, papers strewn from one end of the house to the other since we just got back from vacation ~ can someone please tell me what I was thinking in ‘easing’ us back in this week?

In all honesty, I do not feel like I am ‘ready’ to go, especially since we are in the middle of a building project and have company coming and going all month. We are VERY excited to have a new homeschool room coming in the near future {although it isn’t moving as quickly as we had hoped!}.

So my goal for the month? Quit looking so far ahead and focus on getting the immediate done. Sounds simple, no? Now to just put it into practice…

My Goal for the month of June…

Our garden beds, planters and more are all finished and even starting to produce some great veggies for us {my goal for the month of May!!}, our standardized testing will be wrapped up today {hooray!!} and we are finishing up a few key areas of school and ready for a bit of a break!

I have a few goals this month in mind for myself…there are several preschool packs that I am working on finishing and pulling together {Wizard of Oz, Star Wars, a beach theme and more!} and Cindy from Along the Way is working with me on some artist studies/printables that have been put on a backburner until the last week or so.

Once we’ve finished up the bulk of school, I plan to just RELAX and breathe a bit!! I’m also LOVING the book Ministry of Motherhood by Sally Clarkson and having a wonderful group of ladies to read along with. Reading at a slower pace is really enjoyable and I’m gleaning SO MUCH from the book too.

Oh!! And did I mention that HOMESCHOOL CONVENTION is coming up???? Ahhh…the bliss. The wonder. The joy! This is going to be a wonderful month!!!

My Goal for the month of May…

We’re pretty well back into our full routine and swing of things ~ and that includes me too! My personal schedule has been tweaked a little {and truthfully could be tweaked a bit more too}, but I’ve been doing well sticking to what I have on paper right now. :)

For our school time, we’re finishing up several parts of our curriculum {math, science and language} and also picking up a few new things ~ which I’ll be sharing with you all soon! The kids are really excited about one of the changes, which in turn makes ME really excited about them! We are also working on our standardized testing this month {woo hoo!!!}.

This month {on the homefront} I’m itching to finish up planting in our garden beds and planters outdoors. I’ll also be participating in the 31 Days to Clean challenge at Joyful Mothering {you can join in too!}.

My Goal for the month of April…

We have slowly, but surely, been getting back into our normal school routine. Next week should kick it up another notch as we add a bit more into our days, but the kids have been doing great and Laurianna just finished up her math program for this year and will start on the next level!

During the month of April I’m hoping to wrap up a few more Preschool Packs that I’ve been working on and now that we’re back in our school routine get myself back into my schedule and stick to it. I know that it seems like something that shouldn’t be a big deal at times, but it really helps me focus on the things that I need to do when I budget my time.

I pulled my schedule out, re-organized it a bit and have been flipping back through my copy of Tell Your Time What to Do by Amy Lynn Andrews. This weekend I’ll be wrapping up a few things I was working on and get back into the groove of time budgeting.

Ahhh…typing it out just makes me feel better! I’d also like to finish one book that I’m reading by Sally Clarkson, Seasons of a Mother’s Heart. I’d also like to put a good dent in my reading pile…but I have a feeling I’ll be slightly sidetracked once the nice weather hits and I have a chance to start working in our garden beds!

My Goal for the month of March…

February’s goal went fairly well. While we had about 2 weeks of no school at all, we aren’t TOO far behind where we should be in our school year.

For March, my main goal is to get back to normal…once I can figure out and remember what normal is. All of our school things are unpacked and right now I’m waiting for our computer to decide to talk to our server ~ which is where all of my plans, templates, etc… are stored. We’re finally back in the land of internet, but we’re having trouble making all of our techie stuff talk and get along with each other.

Ahh, the joys of technology.

The kids and I are ready to get back into a normal routine and so far this week we’ve been doing well, although there are a few kiddos that seem to have taken on the art of whining about every little thing that they are being asked to do.

Another thing that we need to work on ~ cheerful attitudes.

So, here’s hoping and planning that the month of March is filled with NO excitement at all and involves lots of routine!

My Goal for the month of February {and January’s results}…
My goal for January was to update and share my Emergency Binder printables. I started and was making good progress, but when it became clear that we were moving, I put all of that on hold. Many of the things that I would need to put into the binder will be changing and truthfully I felt my energy was better put elsewhere. :) I did what I needed to leave my mom important information for my parents, but otherwise I had to focus on preparing to move.
For February, my main goal is to keep up with the basics of school work in the midst of moving ~ and be realistic about the expectations on the kids and myself. We’re at a bit of a standstill since we can’t quite move into our new house {while we wait for the former owner to move out}, but we’re ready to start the process. I’m well aware that patience is NOT one of my strong traits…and trying to rest and know that God has been working through this entire process…and He isn’t going to leave us hanging!
