10 Fine Motor Activities for young children from Homeschool Creations

There are so many different ways to work on fine motor skills with your kids. This week I’m highlighting ten posts, featuring a variety of fine motor activities for young children – and some great practice as well!

If your kids are needing a little help with their scissor skills (other than cutting the hair of a sibling), visit Happy Hooligans for 5 Cutting Activities to Develop Scissor Skills.

This Fine Motor Clothes Fastenings Board from craftulate.com has several different fasteners to help your child learn different skills like buttoning, zipping, snapping – love it!

Pipe cleaners are such a simple and forgiving way to work on fine motor skills. P is for Preschooler shares Pipe Cleaner Loops (and a little Olympic fun too).

This light bright geo board is such a fun idea! Visit And Next Comes… to see how she used her light bright table with her boys.

Grab a bag of mini marshmallows, toothpicks and tweezers for some sweet play time. Little Bins for Little Hands shares two different activities to do with your kids.

Latch boards can be so much fun for little hands. Check out My Life of Travels and Adventures for a tutorial on putting together your own.

Life with Moore Babies shares a YUMMY Nutella play dough recipe that she used with her kids to make some super cute mini cupcakes.

This activity from Dabbling Momma is so simple – straws and contact paper, but can be used so many different ways!

Making pretzels together and rolling out the dough – similar to playdough play, but there is a yummy edible finish! Check out ABC Creative Learning for a recipe and ideas.

Using q-tips to paint is a great way to work on fine motor skills. Carisa from 1+1+1=1 shares some fun printables for working on ABC’s with kids.
