My reading plans for June didn’t quite turn out as I anticipated. When our vacation didn’t happen, most of the reading time I’d set aside (in my head) was gone. And while we’ve been at the pool quite a bit, much of that has been in the role as swim mom and part of helping out a lot with the team. In short – the general craziness of summer. (grins) So much for slowing down, eh?
The bulk of my reading has been done at night – falling asleep with a book in my hands, and several of the books in my pile have carried over from last month into this month.
My July 2016 Reading Pile
My 2016 reading list is coming along well, and I’m pulling a few from that list to read as well as throwing in some fun fiction for good measure. My brain needs a bit of a break finishing up the school year and that’s my primary way of disconnecting and getting ‘lost’ for a bit. Here’s how my reading pile is shaping up for the month:
- Giddy-up, Eunice! by Sophie Hudson (about 1/2 way through this)
- Parenting is Heart Work by Scott Turansky and Joanne Miller – only made it three chapters so far…
- Give Your Child the World by Jamie Martin
- The True Darcy Spirit by Elizabeth Ashton
- A Study in Death by Anna Lee Huber
- Making it Home by Emily Wierenga
What I read in June…
- Traces of Guilt by Dee Henderson
- From This Moment by Elizabeth Camden
- The Beautiful Pretender by Melanie Dickerson
- Hallowed Halls by Hannah Alexander
- The Postmistress – really wouldn’t recommend. Reviews said it was along the lines of The Help. Really rather cyclical and felt it went nowhere, rather slowly.
- The Anatomist’s Wife by Anna Lee Huber – really enjoyed this book and the time period and have picked up another book to read soon).
That’s it for this month! What are you reading for yourself or together with the kids? Leave a comment and share. :)

I’m definitely adding some of those to my list! I’m also reading Give Your Child the World, it’s a must have resource! I just finished The Light Between Oceans, Man in the High Castle (did not like either) and Jane Steele (LOVED it, minus some parts). Also in the works are Made With Love (Pinecraft Pie Shop series), Jayber Crow, and another one on my phone which I now forget :D
I’m currently reading Forever by Karen Kingsbury. If you have never read her series on the Baxter Family, I highly recommend it!
I read many of them years ago, but toward the end (when the story switched over to more Bailey), I petered out on them. They are great reads!
