Getting Started Homeschooling at Teach Them Diligently

Maybe you are just getting started homeschooling (there are some GREAT sessions to help you get started). Maybe you are just ready for the year to be over and done with (trust me, there are many sessions to help encourage you!). Or life is just crazy and at the moment you don’t even know where to start with homeschooling thrown in (there’s something for you too!). From encouragement as a parent, tips on homeschooling from moms who have been there and experienced that, to sessions that will challenge you spiritually, Teach Them Diligently has something for every member of your family.

I am personally looking forward to sitting in on different sessions this time and just soaking up some much needed encouragement. It may also be a bit of a mommy-break too, so if you see me walking dazed through the vendor halls – please stop me and say hi. And chat – I’ll likely be on quiet overload from not having any kids peppering me with questions!

Hear me speak at Teach Them Diligently

And really, it’s out of my comfort zone to say ‘HEY – come hear me speak!” (and the button above cracks me up), but if you are attending, I’d love to have you sit in on one of my three sessions:

  • Finding a Curriculum That Works for You and Your Family (and what to do when it isn’t working)
  • Balancing Life and School (I am so preaching to myself on this one!!)
  • Get Your Homeschool Organized

Free Book: Hope for the Heart of the Homeschool Mom

We all have days when our heart and spirit are just tired and weary – at least I know I do! In those moments, encouragement is what is most needed.

Today and tomorrow only there is a FREE Kindle book available for you – Hope for the Heart of the Heart of the Homeschool Mom: Encouragement for the Days When Sanity is Limited.

Need a Mom’s Night Out?

Every now and then something in my craves spending time with other women. Whether it’s over a cup of coffee, laughing together at a movie, or just sitting and chatting together, there is something about having a little slice of time away that helps refresh my heart and spirit. If chocolate is involved – well, that makes it even better!

Last night a group of girls and I were talking about this very thing – how much it meant to us to have the two hours we spend together every other week. We share concerns, laughter, advice, and pray together during a Bible study time, but it is oh-so-needed. Those few hours away from the demands of being a mom mean the world.

A few years ago, I had the pleasure of attending a Real Refreshment Retreat with Rachel Carman, so I was very excited to see that Teach Them Diligently is teaming up with her to offer all moms attending a fun night of games, fellowship, relaxation ond more!

At each of the Teach Them Diligently events this year, MOMS ONLY have the opportunity to get together on Friday night from 8pm – 10pm. There is no additional cost for this – it is included in the price of your registration to Teach Them Diligently (registration is currently $60 for the entire family)!!

As a homeschool mom, you will have the opportunity to connect with other moms, hear many of the leaders and speakers from the convention, and just enjoy a few hours away. The evening is a ‘Moms-only’ event, so if your hubby is with you at the convention, he’ll have the chance for some 1:1 time with the kids!

Personally I’m looking forward to attending a few of these events this year. I’ll be speaking in Nashville, Atlanta, Sandusky (and hopefully Dallas too). Register now and get ready for an evening of refreshment.

Being a homeschooling mother of seven children, she understands the unique needs a homeschool mom faces. These Evenings of Real Refreshment will be a wonderful place for homeschool moms to join with other women as they seek to educate their children to the glory of God.

Time to Rest

This weekend I had grand plans of making some fun ornament with the kids (hello, big fat fail) and sharing them with you all. But that just didn’t happen.

the totaled car

Instead we spent the weekend looking for a new (to us) vehicle to replace the one that a few inches of snow managed to total (sigh). In case you were wondering, car shopping isn’t the most exciting thing and can be a wee bit overwhelming. And tiring. And make your brain just fry. It isn’t for the weary.

zachary pencils up his nose

And the kids, well, it’s life as normal around our house. Assuming you call the above normal. That is how life goes with us, especially when your phone is left sitting on the counter. Apparently much of my free time in the upcoming weeks will be spent deleting (or hiding for future use) pictures that my kids have randomly taken over the last few weeks. Incidentally, we don’t have any great family pictures and I may have threatened told the kids that their lovely images might grace our belated Christmas cards (grins). Wouldn’t you like one?

On a side note – I’m also trying to figure out which two pencils boy wonder used in his few moments of fun. Shudder.

Recipes for Molasses Cookies and Snickerdoodle Cookies from www.homeschoolcreations.net

BUT – all that aside, my hubby is home this week, there are cookies to be baked (and eaten)- especially our two Christmas Eve favorites of Molasses and Snickerdoodles, gifts to wrap, books to read, and a Christmas to enjoy.

So no blogging for me this week and HUGE hugs and Merry Christmas wishes to all of you as well. Sit back. Relax. Love on your family.

See you next week!
