Cursive ABC Flashcards and Posters – Free Printables

Many of you requested a cursive version of the beginning sounds alphabet flash cards and alphabet wall posters to use with your children. These are some of my favorite printables because of the colors and pictures, so of course I wanted to help you all out!

Each card and poster features an image whose initial sound begins with that letter. There are two sets of cards, one featuring cartoon images and another with real pictures, so you can choose which ones you prefer.

The cursive alphabet flashcards are a fun size for children. We have a set printed off onto cardstock and laminated. They are on a jump ring so we can hang them easily near a desk for quick reference. Each of the flash cards is 2” x 3” in size or about the size of a deck of cards.

Alphabet Flash Cards and Alphabet Wall Posters

Alphabet-Flashcards.jpg

If you’re looking for a fun (and smaller) way for kids to remember letter formation and also have a quick reminder of beginning letter sounds, you’ll enjoy these alphabet flashcards.

Each card feature both an uppercase and lowercase print letter along with a guide for how the letter is formed. Along with the letters, cards show a picture of an item that begins with that letter (a – apple, b – butterfly, etc.).

There are two sets of cards in the download: one with a cartoon image and another with a photo of a real item.

The alphabet flashcards each print off around 2” x 3”, about the size of a deck of cards. We printed our cards off onto cardstock, laminated them to make them more sturdy, hole-punched them and then put them on a jump ring. {Note: this is how we laminate more inexpensively}.

You can also use the smaller cards to make a fun banner to hang in your classroom.

If you are a classroom teacher, or have more space on your walls, you may want to download the Alphabet Wall Posters. The wall posters show how the upper and lowercase letters are formed, giving children a great visual on letter formation.

After sharing the Number Word Printables last week with you all, a reader asked if I could put together word cards for the Read! Build! Write! mats that went along with all of the letters of the alphabet. Introducing the ABC Phonics Word Cards!

These cards feature one word for each letter of the alphabet along with a picture of the word. All of the vowels are for the short vowel sound.

The Read! Build! Write! Vocabulary Mats

Not familiar with the Read! Build! Write! mats? Basically they are a fun way to work with your child on word identification and spelling.

Read, Build, Write collage

Here’s how you use the mats:

Read: Place one of the vocabulary cards in the top box and read the word together.

Build: Use letter tiles or magnets to build the word in the second box.

Write: Finally, practice writing the word in the bottom box.

Print the mats onto cardstock and then laminate them so that you can use Vis-à-vis markers or dry erase markers on the mats.

Cucumber Cactus Craft

We’re having some cowboy fun this week and pulled together a quick cactus craft after rounding up some cucumbers, toothpicks, and tissue paper. It was so very easy and cute too {and there may have been some cucumber nibbling going on behind the scenes}.

We pulled out three cucumbers and a butter knife and Kaleb had fun cutting them different lengths.

Cactus craft

I cut a bunch of toothpicks in half and Kaleb went to town poking them into the cucumber chunks. We sprinkled cornmeal around the inside of the pan that we were working in to look like desert sand.

Cactus craft

Kaleb then stick small pieces of tissue paper on the toothpicks to make ‘flowers’ on the cactus.

Super quick and easy craft to put together and once we pulled the toothpicks out and rinsed them off ~ a yummy snack too. :)
