I walked into our schoolroom this past week and about had a heart attack. Apparently, the kids have been feeling creative and making a whole lotta crafts. Unfortunately, they are not as prone to clean up the mess that they so willingly make when creating.

Messy Homeschool Room-1

Glitter and wiggly eyes were the craft mess of choice. Don’t ask…I have NO idea! Our craft supplies are now missing a lot of those and mini paper plates.

Glitter and Eyeballs-1

They aren’t they only ones making a mess though. I’m guilty of sending the kids upstairs with an armload of books to drop off and now there is a BIG MESS to clean up. See the piles of books on MY desk? Oh the joy of organizing!!

  1. I didn’t even realize that it was July until I saw this post. We don’t start until August 13th but it is our first “official” year homeschooling, so we need to get going in our prep. That wiggly eyes craft stick would totally be something my daughter would make. To me it says, “Eye love reading!” :)

  2. I am planning on starting on Aug 1 too but it is beginning to feel like a bad idea! I think I can be ready, but next year I am going to start my planning and reorganizing before the school year is done!!

  3. I am planning this month too since we’re starting august 1st too for our first official year of homeschooling! I can’t believe it’s already July. I had originally planned on being done with the planning stage by now! Oh well

  4. Your school room still looks great. Love the set up of the room and color.

    • I want to do some reorganizing in the next bit too…but have to see how it will all work {and if I’m ambitious enough to move things around!}

  5. These pics made me feel better, lol. We are starting back July 16 and I haven’t done anything with our room since May. (yikes). It’s on my “to do” list this week.

  6. I’m glad my homeschool room is not the only one that looks like this! Thanks for sharing. I to an starting the organization to begin Aug 1st :)

  7. I actually gasped when I saw the picture, then laughed at myself. I’m GLAD you shared the mess! We don’t have a special room or even special place for HS’ing, so our mess ends up all over the place.
    We started using StudyLadder.com this week and my 6 year old son who was refusing to sound out words was reading 3 letter words and spelling them on the first activity. Little stinker!

  8. what a blessed-mess!!! I have 2 sons with autism and I would be so excited to see this at my house….

  9. I completely understand, that’s how our school room looked last week. I’ve spent the last week organizing it, and we start school Monday.

  10. SUCH truth. :) And definitely not magazine worthy the bulk of the time.
